Brick stitch question?

I have a pattern for a pair of angel earrings but the problem is I don’t remember exactly how to do it. It has a 2 bead base row and you start by stringing 3 beads together then coming back through the first bead (it forms a pyramid with 2 beads on top and one bead on bottom) the trouble is, from here we are supposed to be able to add beads to the base row 2 beads at a time and I can’t for the life of me remember how to do this. Does anybody know the name of this technique or how to do it? or even where I can find this technique online?
